Overview
This 9-day tour takes you through Sri Lanka’s national parks, highlands, and coastal areas to see the island's diverse wildlife and natural environments. You will visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and take jeep safaris in Kaudulla and Yala National Parks to observe wild elephants and other native species.
The itinerary also covers significant historical and cultural sites, including the Anuradhapura ruins and the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. Emerald Sri Lanka Tours includes a guided trek through the Horton Plains National Park and scenic stops at the Peradeniya Botanical Garden and Nine Arch Bridge, providing a comprehensive look at the island's natural highlights.
Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be welcomed with an orchid garland. Transfer to a nearby hotel in Negombo to check in and rest.
After breakfast, travel to Dambulla. En route, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to learn about the care of disabled and baby elephants, which includes a feeding experience. In the afternoon, take a jeep safari in Kaudulla National Park to observe wild elephants, followed by an overnight stay in Dambulla.
Travel to Anuradhapura after breakfast to explore the ancient kingdom's ruins, including the Sri Maha Bodhiya, Ruwanwelisaya Pagoda, and the King’s ancient swimming pool (Kuttam Pokuna). In the afternoon, travel to Sigiriya to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site before returning to Dambulla for an overnight stay.
Travel to Kandy, stopping at a Matale spice garden to learn about Sri Lankan spices and handmade products. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, and end your day by watching a Kandy cultural dance show. Stay overnight in Kandy.
After breakfast, visit a Sri Lankan gem and jewelry museum and the local public market. Continue your journey to Nuwara Eliya, making stops to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Ramboda Waterfall, and the Damro Tea Factory. Enjoy an overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Depart early at 5:00 AM with a packed breakfast to explore Horton Plains National Park. Afterward, transfer to Haputale and visit the Adisham Bungalow. Check in and spend the night in Haputale.
Following breakfast, travel to Tissamaharama. En route, visit Lipton Seat to take in the panoramic views of Ella and visit the Nine Arch Bridge. Check in for your overnight stay in Tissamaharama.
Start the day with an early morning jeep safari in Yala National Park. Afterward, travel to Hikkaduwa, making stops to visit the coastal village of Kirinda, the Hiriketiya Blowhole, Thalpe Beach, and the Galle Fort. Stay overnight in Hikkaduwa.
After breakfast, travel toward Colombo. Take time to visit the Hikkaduwa beach and observe the coral reef before proceeding to the Colombo Airport for your departure flight.
